a painter from Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, born June 22, 1977, began to demonstrate a fascination for painting from the age of eight. At this young age, because of destiny and the pure manifestation of his artistic spirit, he stumbled upon a painter's set consisting of oil paints, brushes, and a palette deserted on the street, initiating his life as an artist. Since childhood, multicolored sensations have filled his world, and since then, his love for art lives on.
In 1998, his first exhibition at La Casa de la Cultura in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, consisted of 30 graphite and charcoal pieces emphasizing human faces and anatomy. MARCOS MARES's formation has been dictated in a general manner by a grand union of the art and his desire to manifest his art every day. "El arte que yo hago es meramente introspectivo trato de curar mis heridas y mantengo firme mi espíritu y esto sólo lo he logrado a través del arte." Meaning, "The art I make is simply introspective as I try to cure my wounds and firmly hold my spirituality, and this I have achieved only through art."
MARCOS MARES has participated in many exhibitions nationally within Mexico, the United States, Colombia, Argentina, and Belgium, to mention a few. Another artistic path MARCOS MARES has developed is muralism. He has participated in distinct projects within his city, Piedras Negras, where these murals bring to life the era of the Mexican Revolution and pre-Hispanic Mexico. In 2008, the artist participated in one of his most personally significant exhibits. The project featured a collective of Mexican artists in New York City, realized in conjunction with the state of Michoacán, Mexico, and directed by Mexican artist Arturo Macías.
In August, September, and October of 2014, he presented his first retrospective Punto Ecléctico, eclectic point, an exhibit containing more than 250 pieces --telling the chronological story and unfolding of his work over the past 20 years. The exhibition took place in Saltillo, Coahuila, within the Autonomous University of Coahuila's cultural space. The pieces ranged from paintings, sculptures, drawings, and ensembles.
Another labor the artist MARCOS MARES has cultivated is creating scenery for theater plays such as Les Misérables, Mama Mia, Matilda, Hairspray, and Alice in Wonderland.
In 2016, for the first time and in a complete way, he presented Ruptura, breaking off, in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico, in the library Harold Pape for an international book fair, la Feria Internacional del Libro. In its total completion, the collection consists of 20 pieces. Summer of 2019 Tour of Europe exhibiting in Italy, Belgium and Germany featuring the collection Mares- Desiertos.
